Dangling Picture Frame Novelty You Make in Minutes

How many times have you broken the glass on a picture frame you own and thrown it in the trash? Whether you have never done so, or its happened more times than you care to remember, theres a cute craft you can make from a picture frame with no glass. Its not expensive to make, it only takes a couple of minutes, and when youre finished youll have a new decor piece for your home. Its easy to make a one-of-a-kind treasure that can become a family heirloom when you start with a simple picture frame that has no glass or backing.

The item you display in the picture frame will be your choice, but whatever you choose, it must be able to dangle from the picture frame. Small novelties work well, tiny treasures, pieces of jewelry and some collectibles. The object of the craft is to find an item that can connect to a string - or something similar - and be dangled inside the picture frame.

Some picture frames, like thick, wooden frames, can stand alone. Most frames, though, will not stand after removing their backing. If the frame youre using wont stand alone youll need to create a stand. A wide piece of wood works well as a stand for most picture frames. Simply glue the frame to the new base and stand it up to create the finished look. Having the frame standing while youre connecting the dangling piece will make it easier to position it. At a craft store, or in a department store that has a craft department, youll find lots of things that can become the dangling item in your picture frame. Jewelry charms, for example, can be used to create your new decor piece. The charms come in many sizes and designs making them perfect for this craft. Thread the charm on a piece of fishing twine, to make a "floating" charm, or use decorative thread to display the charm. Each technique creates a different look. Tape or glue the twine to the top part of the back of the frame. Position the twine to where the charm dangles directly in the center of the frame. You dont necessarily have to go out and purchase a charm. If you own a necklace with a broken chain the charm from it can be used as the display piece in the frame. Even the jewelry isnt broken, but you no longer wear it, dangle the entire necklace, using the chain as the "twine" for the craft. Although a jewelry charm might be lovely in a small picture frame a larger frame will require a much bigger display piece. There are many different things that can be used to create the finished design. An old pocket watch, a stuffed animal, a belt buckle, a wooden shape, a large silk flower, a doll dress, or even another, smaller picture frame. Miniature frames often have a loop at the top that you can use to dangle the small frame inside the larger one. If you have an 8x10" frame or larger, and you dont have a stand or base, you can still create the craft using a frame that hangs on the wall. You will still remove the glass and the backing from the original frame. The wall will then become the backing for the dangling object. If you want, you can use the backing from the frame, and cover the cardboard with fabric, to create a background for the dangling novelty. When hanging the frame its necessary to hang it ever so slightly away from the wall to allow for the string or chain that is holding the dangling object. Set the picture frame display on a mantle, shelf or other flat surface. Or, create ones that hang on the wall of most any room. Theyre unique, inexpensive to create, and loads of fun. If youre looking for a fabulous craft that takes little time to make this is the perfect craft for you. If you dont have a useable frame for this craft check your local dollar-theme stores. They often carry a large assortment of frames that will work nicely for creating your new decor piece. Youll love it!

Sandwich Artwork for Kids

Your child probably loves to make artwork; most kids do. They usually draw, paint or color on anything from paper to cardboard. Youre always so proud to display the finished pictures, arent you? Well, kids can continue having fun with art projects at home but you wont be displaying the beautiful creations. Instead, the kids will eat them! Let them color and decorate their sandwiches, and not only will they have a wholesome lunch, but theyll have lots of fun in the meanwhile.

First, allow the child to make his or her own sandwich unless they are too young to do so. Lay out cold cuts, cheese and veggies or just make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Or, make a favorite of many kids - peanut butter and bananas. Kids love making the sandwiches themselves. Ordinary slices of white bread will make the best art surface. Dark breads dont allow the colors to show as well on the finished artwork. Place each sandwich on a piece of foil and set one in front of each child. The kids can use the top bread of the sandwiches as their canvases. Sound strange? It is! Strangely unique and fun, that is! Use small disposable cups to create the colors for the artwork. Add a little milk to the cup then stir in food coloring. Use lots of dye to make the colors dark. Use little to make lighter shades. A little milk goes a long way so dont make too much at one time. You can make more later if needed. Simply add a little more milk and a little more of the food coloring.

Make all the basic food coloring colors, red, yellow, green and blue, then mix the dyes to create even more colors. Open a new package of small artists brushes and the kids are ready to paint their sandwiches. Pull slightly on the bristles of the brushes to make sure there are no loose ones. To cover large areas on the bread quickly use new, tiny foam brushes. Dip the paintbrushes in the colored milk and draw on the bread as if it were paper. Although it takes a little more effort to draw on bread than paper kids can still create beautiful images. Make an apple tree, complete with blue sky background and green grass below. Or, draw a swing set with stick people kids playing on it. There are no limits to the designs kids can make. They can draw their favorite pets, their friends or even their homes. If the child can think it up he or she can create it with the milk colors. If your child is no artist yet he or she can still create pictures by using clean, plastic stencils. Paper stencils arent ideal since they will get wet. Place the stencil on the bread, use the milk color to fill in the designs, then remove the stencil and wipe it clean. Although the bread will get somewhat damp as the kids draw with the milk later the sandwich will be toasted. The toasting of the bread will dry up any liquid and will enhance the image the child has created. Place the artwork sandwiches on a baking sheet and toast slightly under the broiler. Or, use a toaster oven to brown the bread. After removing the sandwiches from the oven, and allowing them to cool for a couple of minutes, kids can eat their sandwiches along with their artwork! Cut the images into more manageable sizes or put the whole sandwich on a plate. Take pictures of the sandwiches, before consumption, so others can see the finished artwork before theyre gone forever. The sandwich art project doesnt have to be strictly for kids; theyll love it if their parents sit down and create new sandwich designs with them. Sandwich art is so easy and fun your kids will want to do it every time they eat lunch. You might not want to provide them with the food colors every time they eat, but since the project is easy to set up, youll want to let them do it often. Join in on the fun and make one with them; after all, you like drawing too, dont you?

How to Make a Cradle from an Oatmeal Canister

Little girls love their dolls, dollhouses, clothes and accessories. They can spend hours on end dressing the dolls, fixing their hair, or just holding them. The average young girl is thrilled to receive anything new for her dolls, whether its a coat or a new purse. Those things are generally purchased but there are lots of things you can make for the dolls. One such thing is a cradle that can hold a doll or even a stuffed animal.

An oatmeal box, and a few craft supplies, is all you need to create the cutest little cradle. Use a jumbo oatmeal canister to make a large cradle or the smallest available canister to make a miniature cradle. Either one will give your girl hours of fun. Best of all, the cradle will cost little, and can be made with any theme or color scheme.

Glue the lid onto the oatmeal box then stand the box upside-down. Use a knife to cut down the center of the canister, starting through the center of the bottom and cutting towards the lid. Take your time and cut both sides the same. If needed, draw a line before cutting, so youll get both sides even. Stop cutting when you get about two-thirds of the way down. Remove the knife from the canister and lay the oatmeal box on its side. Setting the canister on a towel will help keep it from rolling while you cut. Position the knife, about two-thirds of the way down the length of the can, just above the end of the slit you cut. Cut straight down until you reach the area where you stopped the lengthwise cut. When you do this a large chunk of the canister can then be removed, leaving you with the shape of a cradle that has a bonnet. Paint the inside of the cradle or glue satin, or a similar fabric, to the inside. Wrap a piece of decorative paper or cloth around the oatmeal canister. Glue or tape it to the underside of the cradle. Use the scissors to carefully cut the fabric or paper away from the canister opening. Glue gathered lace around the edge of the bonnet. Glue matching lace, or coordinating ribbon, around the opening of the cradle. To hide the raw edges from the inside glue a piece of lace around the opening there, too. The two pieces of lace or ribbon will cover the raw edges, inside and out. If you want, glue the two pieces together. Cut a piece of foam for the inside of the cradle. Youll get the best fit if you start with a cylindrical piece of foam and cut it lengthways down the center. One half of the foam cylinder will be a perfect fit for the cradle. Cover the foam in fabric. This piece of fabric should be glued onto the foam unless you sew. If you sew you can cut the fabric shape, add elastic along the edges, then slip the cover on and off the foam at any time. Set the covered foam into the cradle. Its your choice if you want to make a slipcover, as stated above, and simply set the foam into the cradle or if you want to glue the fabric to the foam then glue the foam to the inside of the cradle. With the latter, you wont be able to remove the cover for washing. Now you can embellish the cradle in many different ways. Use stickers to spell the babys name or to add a theme to a paper-covered cradle. Other embellishments for a paper-covered cradle include rick-rack, felt dots or shapes, colored tape, or even ribbon. If the canister is covered in fabric you can glue on piping, painted wooden shapes, ribbon, bows and more. Each combination of materials gives you a totally different design. Make cradles for little stuffed animals or larger dolls. Create beautiful, intricate cradles or simplistic ones with paper enhancements. There are so many different ways to create the cradles from things you have around your house that you might not need store-bought embellishments at all! No matter how lavish, or how plain, the little girl in your life is going to love it!

Wooden Spoon Spring Flower Project for Kids

Ah, springtime! Fresh air, green leaves, flowers everywhere - what can be better? When winter seems to be disappearing, and spring seems to be nearing, many people get anxious to get outside. When its that time of the year where its still a little chilly out, but everything looks green and beautiful, a spring flower project can help you feel like winter is definitely gone! While there might not be any flowers blooming outside just yet you can still have vases full of beautiful flowers inside. Dont break out the potting soil just yet, though. Instead, go to the kitchen and grab some wooden spoons! Long-handled wooden spoons are ideal for making spring flowers that will liven up any room of your house. The kids will have a great time creating their own flowers, and afterwards, you can display them all in a vase. This isnt just a childs project, though. Adults, too, will have a blast making unique flowers from wooden spoons.

There are several different ways to make the wooden flowers which are colorful and easy. Start by making each of the spoon handles green. Paint the handles then stand the spoons upside-down in a cup to dry. Or, use green florist tape and simply wrap it around the spoon handles. When the handles are finished you can begin creating the fabulous flowers.

Make the flowers from things you have around the house or purchase a few cheap craft supplies to create the flowers. Wooden shapes are perfect for this craft. The shapes are sold in bags of various sizes and designs at any craft store. You can also purchase flower shapes already painted. Glue one flower shape on each spoon. Using a different shape for each spoon will create a bouquet of many different types of flowers. If youre using unpainted wooden shapes they can be painted, front and back, after theyve been glued to the spoon. Ordinary hot glue will help you easily attach the shapes to the spoons. After theyre painted and dried you can further embellish them. Add glue to the center of the shape then attach glitter, sequin, seed beads or other choices. Instead of using wooden shapes you can cut shapes from craft foam. The foam is sold by the sheet and comes in a huge variety of colors. Its not expensive and its very easy for children to cut. After youve cut the various flower shapes, and glued them onto the spoons, you can embellish as stated above. Create different looks by layering more than one shape, with each shape getting smaller and smaller. Similar to the craft shapes, paper shapes are easily cut by children. The shapes can be layered many times, since paper is so thin, to create a huge assortment of shapes, colors and sizes. When youve made all the flowers add your final embellishments to the centers. The embellishments you add can make all the difference to the finished look of the spoon flowers. Use buttons, fake jewels, marbles, or similar items to change the look of each flower. Youll find many things around the house - or at a craft store - that will help you create just the perfect bouquet for you. When youre all finished creating flowers stand them in a vase. So that all the flowers dont stand exactly the same height place a piece of Styrofoam in the bottom of the vase. Push some of the spoon handles all the way to the bottom of the vase but push some of them only partially into the Styrofoam. Tie a ribbon around the top of the vase or on each spoon. Add other things to the vase to create more appeal. Curl ribbon pieces, glue or tape them to wires, then push the wires into the Styrofoam. The ribbons can be littered throughout the vase. You can also glue small trinkets on wires and mix them in with the spoon flowers. The bouquets are perfect for just about any room of the house. Theyre beautiful, easy and will thrill your kids!

Shoe Box Animal Magazine Holder for Kids

Just bought the kids some new shoes? Grab the empty shoe box and help kids create a fun magazine holder for their rooms! Theyll absolutely love making lions, tigers, pandas and more especially since they know each unique shoe box animal can help them organize their rooms with a flair. The cute boxes dont necessarily have to be for kids, though. Even adults can use the organizers as a whimsical touch to a desk, the bathroom or other areas of the home.

Although any size shoe box will work fine the smaller boxes are perfect for a childs room. Use shelf liner, decorative paper or even felt to cover the bottom and the inside of the box. Start by cutting a rectangle to glue to the bottom. Now cut one long rectangle that will wrap all the way around the inside of the box. Glue it in place as you go along. Regular glue works well; use clothes pins, if necessary, to hold the paper or felt in place as it dries.

Fake fur is ideal for covering the box but you can also use animal print cloth or plain felt. The fur is great because its very forgiving and makes the shoe box animal more genuine. Purchase the fur at any store that sells cloth. Whether youre using cloth or fur glue one long piece all the way around the outside of the box. Create a face for the animal by using a paper plate. Create a lions face, a teddy bear, a panda or even a pig. Use wiggly eyes, small beads or black pom-poms for eyes. Noses can be made from pieces of felt or markers. Snouts can be made by cutting a section from a bathroom tissue roll. Mouths can be made with markers, yarn, or felt. Make tails for the animal by using rolled fur, felt, a large pom-pom or even a fluffy hair tie. There are so many different animals you can create by using a box and a paper plate. You have many options for purchasing supplies or using things you have around the house. If you dont have fake fur or animal print fabric just use construction paper to cover the box - inside and out. Or, just spray paint the box then make the paper plate face. Ears can be cut from felt or paper and attached directly onto the paper plate face. Whiskers can be created from stiff thread, small wire pieces or can be just drawn onto the face. The boxes can be placed in childrens rooms to hold magazines and more. The cute animals can sit on desks and hold everything from paper work to manila envelopes. You can even make the shoe box animals for bathrooms. Theyre cute when theyre holding extra towels, wash cloths or decorative soaps. Create something similar that will help young children learn to tell time. Decorate the box any way you want then use the paper plate to create a clock face. Cut hands from construction paper. Use a brad to hold the hands to the paper plate. Use stickers or marker to make the numbers on the clock. Attach the hands by pushing the brad through both hands then through the clock. Open the brad, on the back, to hold the arms in place. Glue a ring around the brad. This will allow the brad to be away from the box enough so that the hands can easily be turned. The ring can be a small craft ring or even a wooden circle. Glue the ring area to one end of the box to display the clock. Make a clock for one end or both ends. Kids can play with the clock morning, noon and night. In the mornings they can set the clock to display the time theyll return from school. Or, when they come home they can set the hands to represent the time that supper will be ready. Theyll have hours of fun with the clock. Make a box for Mom to hold her recipes. Make a box for Dad to hold supplies on his desk. Even Grandma would love one of the cute animal boxes to hold cards shes accumulated over the years. There are many different uses for the boxes and anyone, of any age, will appreciate their usefulness.

Sports Shirt Wall Hanging Keepsake

Do you have a son - or even a daughter - who loves to play sports? Do they have a sports shirt from the school basketball or football team? If so, you can make a unique memory board that allows the child to show off all his sports memorabilia while creating a really cool decoration for his or her bedroom. Its so easy to make, they can do it themselves, but its so much fun that youll want to get involved, too! Lay the shirt youll use on a piece of cardboard. Numbered shirts, and shirts with the last name spelled out, are perfect for this project. Draw around the shirt onto the cardboard. Cut it out and inert it into the shirt. Some glue can be applied, here and there, to hold the cardboard in place. Glue around the neckline and shoulders but not down the front of the shirt. Instead of cardboard you can also use a slab of Styrofoam or even a thick piece of cork.

Cut strips of double-sided tape to hang the shirt on the wall. Hang it straight or tilt it slightly to create attention. Now you can decorate it with any number of sports-theme items you already have. Have you won any ribbons or medals playing sports? Use thumb tacks to hang the ribbons on the shirt. You dont have to hang them straight up and down; use a tack to hold the ribbon itself, then double-sided tape to attach the metal end. This technique allows you to place the medals at various angles.

Create sports-theme tacks by gluing tiny miniatures onto the tacks. Tacks which have plastic, flat heads make it easy to hot glue mini sports-theme erasers or other miniatures onto the tacks. Craft stores have a wide selection of sports themes in miniatures that will help you make the special tacks. Tack photos of you with the team up on the shirt board. Pictures of you by yourself, holding a ball, will look great, too. Other pictures you can attach include pictures of the game cut out of the local paper, your favorite sports professional, your teams cheerleaders or even a picture of your teams mascot. Looking through sports magazines can help you find even more pictures you can use. Pictures arent the only thing you can attach to the board. Appliques featuring sports equipment, sports-theme stickers, sports-theme bracelet charms, ball-shaped beads or buttons, shapes cut from sports cloth, and similar items can all be used to make the unique keepsake board. Stick the items to the front of the shirt and attach them to the sleeves as well. There are other methods you can use to attach the various items to the shirt. If you dont have tacks you can use double-sided tape or even hot glue. Other choices include mini clothes pins or mini clips. You dont have to limit the memory board to just a sports shirt. Use baseball or football pants to make a second board. Even basketball shorts can be turned into a unique keepsake board. Attach things randomly to the shirt or create a particular pattern. For example, hang all your metals along the hem of the shirt and allow them to hang long. Above them, create a row of photos, then above them, attach other memorabilia. The final design of the finished board is up to you. You dont necessarily have to create the board with a sports theme. Boys and girls that dont play sports can hang a chosen t-shirt on the wall, with cardboard inside, then hang pictures, ribbons, collectibles and more. Make a cute board for a babys room by placing a piece of cardboard inside a sleeper. There are many different designs you can create depending upon the garment you choose. Its fun and easy to make the sports shirt keepsake board and theyre suitable for girls or boys. It costs little or nothing to make the board since your child already has the shirt and the memorabilia. Its a fun project that will give any bored child something to do on a rainy day.

Tuxedo Shirt Gift Box for Dad

You know what will surprise Dad even more than his Fathers Day gift? A gift wrap that looks like a tuxedo shirt! Its really easy to make and will really impress your dad. The unique wrap is perfect for a present thats in a rectangular, shallow box. There are several different ways to make the shirt box: a simple technique for kids and a more advanced craft that adults can do. Either method will create a gift box that Dad will never forget.

Kids can easily create the shirt box by simply using a white gift box.. Cut a length of inch-and-a-half wide ribbon, in red or black, to make the tie. Tape the center of the ribbon to the backside of the box. Place the ribbon a few inches down from one short end of the box. Wrap the ends of the ribbon around the box and tie in a bow, on the front of the box.

If the child is too young to tie a bow an adult can help. After tying the bow onto the package kids can then glue several black buttons down the front center of the box. This will make an even more convincing shirt gift box. If there is no ribbon kids can cut a long piece of red construction paper (glue strips together to make it long enough) wrap it around the tie area, then cut out a bow shape and glue or tape it on. Although the shortened version of the craft, as stated above, is cute and simple for a young child an older child or adult might want to make a nicer version of the tuxedo shirt. Start with any color of box, rectangular, and shallow. Use white wrapping paper to create the look of the shirt. You have more than one option for making the shirt. To create one version of the box youll wrap it in white paper then add black paper to represent the pants. To do this, cut a piece of black wrapping paper and wrap it around the bottom fourth of the box. Tape it so that it is folded on the short end of the box. Now the top part of the box is the shirt and the bottom part is the pants. Tie on the red or black ribbon and glue the buttons down the front of the "shirt. Spend a little more time with the wrapping paper and you can make a fabulous and impressive tuxedo shirt, complete with pleats down the front. Tear the white paper twelve inches longer than needed to wrap the box. Fold the paper in half, crease well, then position the fold on the box, down the center front. Tape at both ends to secure. Now start folding the pleats of the shirt to the right of the fold. Draw a line an inch away from the fold. Draw another at 1.5", 2", 2.5", 3", 3.5", 4", 4.5", 5", 5.5" and 6". Do the same thing to the opposite side of the fold. These lines will show you where to fold the paper. Take the time to create the folds, making each fold a half-inch, and creasing each one well. As you create each fold tape it at the top and bottom to secure. When youve created all the folds tape the remainder of the paper around to the back. Trim if necessary. Now proceed on with creating the rest of the shirt. Tie the ribbon around the top area of the shirt box and glue on the buttons. Enhance the finished box by wrapping a wide black ribbon around the area where the "shirt" meets the "pants", if you want. Although the best look for the shirt is a rectangular box the tuxedo shirt can also be done to a square box. Instead of a tuxedo shirt you can also make a different kind of shirt. Use an type of wrapping paper you want and use a real necktie to embellish the shirt. Tie the tie around the package, as stated above, then use double-sided tape to hold the tie down the front of the box. Whatever kind of tie you make Dad can just remove it then open the gift box. Hell be impressed with the tuxedo shirt - or other shirt - and hell never forget it! Use the shirt gift box technique for other mens gift occasions, too, like graduations, birthdays and anniversaries.

What to Do with All Those Halloween Candy Wrappers

What are you doing with all those Halloween candy wrappers? Throwing them away? Oh no! Didnt you know there are tons of things you can make out of the wrappers? Candy wrapper projects are very cheap and look great. Most of them are so simple a child can do them. As a matter of fact, gather up the kids, and let them get creative while enjoying their candy.

Miniature candy wrappers are perfect for redecorating your childs room for next to nothing. Use decoupage adhesive to attach the wrappers to the light switch cover and more. Many candy wrappers have a strip, in the back, which shows no print. This is generally the area where the wrapper is glued to itself. Cut off the strips which have no print then get ready to do a cool project.

Use a small foam brush to cover a light switch cover with decoupage adhesive. Youll find the glue at any craft store and some discount department stores. Completely coat the light switch cover with the glue. Stick the wrappers all over it, and when youre done, trim off excess wrapper pieces. Use the decoupage to coat the finished project and to protect the wrappers. Even though its never a good idea to dunk decoupage in a sink or bucket of water, you can easily use a damp cloth or sponge, to wipe the project off when needed. The cute switch cover is unique and cost only pennies. Use the decoupage glue technique to cover lamps, lampshades, drawer fronts, hampers, trash cans and more. The bedroom, when finished, will look like youve spent a lot of money even though youve only invested the price of the glue. Some of the Halloween candy wrapper projects can be somewhat time-consuming but all of them look great and are easy to accomplish. Kids can use the candy wrappers to create matching accessories in their rooms. Glue the wrappers - or pieces of wrappers - to picture frames or mirror frames. Stick the wrappers all over an ordinary glass jar to make a desktop pencil holder. Cover an ordinary binder with the wrappers and you have an impressive personal journal. There is no limit to the projects you can make with the wrappers. Collect wrappers from friends and you can then make your own wallpaper borders. Align the various wrappers - so long as theyre all the same size - or choose one candy in particular to make the border. The border doesnt necessarily have to be at the top of the room; it can be placed over baseboards or wall perimeters. Remove the mat from a picture frame and glue or tape the candy wrappers so that they cover the entire mat. Now place a picture of yourself or a friend inside the frame. The picture can be of Halloween night or can be an ordinary school picture. The candy wrapper mat is unique and easy for kids to make. Candy wrappers, when empty, are crinkled and creased. Thats okay. Just place several of the wrappers between two pages in a book to straighten them. If there is any residue on a particular wrapper you can toss that one or use a damp sponge to wipe it off before using. If you want to have only one particular candy as the theme you can purchase bags of the candy and save the wrappers over time. The wrappers dont have to be just for decorating a childs room. Candy wrapper projects look great in the kitchen, too. You dont have to cover an object entirely in the wrappers. One good example is a candy jar. If you use a canister for the candy jar, you may want to just glue on one candy bar wrapper, on the front of the canister. Another easy candy wrapper craft is made when you use the entire wrapper to create a refrigerator magnet. Carefully open the candy bar and replace it with a piece of sponge. Glue the wrapper shut and stick a piece of magnetic sheeting on the back. The little candy bars look great on the fridge and a collection of them makes a great gift!

Quick Coverups for Doors, Lamps and More: Decoupage Projects that Are Cheap and Easy

Do you have old cabinets that need replaced but cost too much? Are your lampshades looking a little worse for wear? Would you just like to give a different look to things like mirror or picture frames? You can update the way many things in your home look by starting with an adhesive called decoupage. The adhesive looks like thick, white glue and is used to affix paper or fabric to any number of objects.

Purchase the decoupage adhesive at craft stores and some discount department stores. Its not expensive and a little goes a long way. The glue is generally applied with a foam paint brush, or a much smaller brush, if youre working with tiny objects.

Cabinet doors can look scratched and chipped but you can easily give them a brand new look. Remove the hardware from the cabinet door and attach the new cover with decoupage, or just work around the cabinet door handle. One easy way to do that is to cut squares of fabric or paper. Apply a small amount of the glue to the cabinet door then position the square. Move on to the next square, then the next. Completely cover the door with the squares. If there are bubbles, or raised areas on the door, use a little sandpaper to smooth before applying the new fabric or paper. When the glue has dried use the decoupage to give a sealing coat to the paper or fabric. Simply paint the glue over the new cabinet door youve created with the paper or fabric. You can use the decoupage technique on many different items. Plastic, wood, metal and other materials will easily accept the decoupage. Change the look of your hamper, picture frames, trash cans, drawer fronts, mirror frames, cornices, lamp shades and much more. There are few surfaces that you cant change using the decoupage adhesive. You dont necessarily have to completely cover the surfaces you want to update. Cut patterns, stripes or other shapes that can be decoupaged onto the particular surface. Use scrapbook paper, leftover wallpaper pieces, pictures cut from magazines, product labels, and other paper-type materials to decorate the items in your home. You can even decoupage lace onto various things in the house. Fabrics you choose for the decoupage projects should be lightweight but not ultra-thin. Stretchy fabrics can cause some problems, too. Cotton, rayon, lightweight lace, satin and even narrow or wide ribbon are all suitable for using with decoupage. Thin paper, cutouts, punched out paper pieces, and even confetti can all be used to decorate with decoupage. Take an ordinary plate, decoupage a piece of Christmas fabric onto it, and you have a display plate for the holidays. Or, cut out paper shapes with a punch and glue them all over a lampshade. Strategically place the cutouts over stains or tiny tears in the lampshade and itll look brand new again. Decoupage lace onto a bedroom trash can for a touch of elegance. Use the special glue to attach cutouts of moons, stars and suns and affix them to a childs bedroom ceiling. There is no limit to the things you can change with paper and glue. Even the soap in your bathroom can benefit from a decoupage make over. Cut a holiday picture, glue it to the soap, then add layers of decoupage over the picture. You can still bathe with the soap, but over a period of time, the image will begin to fade away. The more layers of decoupage you put over the picture, the longer the picture will stay intact while bathing. Have lots of fun with the decoupage projects around your house and get the kids involved! They can glue fabric lettering on their bedroom doors. They can print out pictures of pets and make a border for their walls. Kids can even glue paper or fabric to other things in their rooms, like mirror frames, hamper or drawer fronts. Supervise children while doing any decoupage projects.

Felt Circle Coasters, Table Mats and More

Can you cut out circles? Sew small, straight lines? Then youll soon have everything from cloth coasters to felt table mats and more! Circles of fabric or felt can be turned into a throw for the back of the couch or even a table runner. There are so many things you can do with the circles that youll be redecorating the whole place! The one thing about making circles of fabric or felt into beautiful items for the home is the patience youll need to cut all those circles. Cut them over a period of time or get older children to help cut. Use a pattern that will create circles which are six inches in diameter. The object you use can be a small bowl, a coffee mug or a drawn pattern. The six-inch circles will get you started, then later, you can make smaller or larger circles. The various sizes will allow you to make even more designs.

Felt is the perfect choice for those just learning to sew. It doesnt need hemmed and wont slide around while youre stitching. Those with more sewing experience can use fabric but each individual circle will have to be perfectly hemmed. When the circles are completely finished youre ready to make any number of new items for your home.

Make coasters by using just one of the felt or fabric circles. Theyre washable and take only a few minutes to make a set. Stitch four of the circles together and make a trivet for a hot pan. To sew the circles together, lay two circles side-by-side, then zig-zag stitch across the area where they meet. Use a wide zig-zag thats close together. Make sure the thread exactly matches the felt color. Stitch across the two circles, leave the needle down and turn the circles around, and stitch over the original zig-zag. Use fairly thick thread when working with felt but adjust the weight of the thread if using lightweight cloth. Make all sorts of things by sewing on more circles. Stitch the circles on to make the design wider, longer, or both. Change colors to create many different designs. For example, group four of the same color together, then stitch circles of another color around the original four. Continue going back and forth with these colors or add even more colors. When making something like a table runner, stitch three or four circles together in a row, then continuing adding more and more circles to the length only. Make it all one color or choose to incorporate two or more colors. Use this basic concept to create centerpiece mats, place mats, a couch throw and more. When you stitch the circles together there will be openings between the circles. This design allows you to see the table, couch or other object beneath the circular creation. Make a completely different design by stitching the finished circle arrangement to a piece of cloth. The circles can be all the same color, with a matching cloth underneath, or the felt can be one or more colors, with a different color of cloth underneath. Each technique creates a different design. The circles dont necessarily have to be made into things with square or rectangular shapes. Start with one circle, stitch circles around it, and more around those, to create a circular design perfect as a centerpiece mat or hot pan holder. The circular pattern can also be made into a huge design that covers a round kitchen or dining room table. Cut smaller circles to make a throw for a babys room. Or, make large circles, and sew them into a design that can be a throw rug or table cover. No matter what you have in mind youll need to get busy cutting those circles. After that huge achievement the rest is a breeze. Cut a few circles every few days, and save them until you have enough, or sit down and cut out enough to finish a project. After youve finished the first project youll definitely find yourself cutting more circles!

How to Make a Purse from Baby Wipes Containers

Okay, so youve already made a ribbon dispenser from a baby wipes container, and youve probably used the containers to hold all sorts of small toys and things, but what do you do with the next empty baby wipes container? Make a purse, of course! Its easy to make a fur purse for your little girl, and shell love it so much, shell want you to make more purses in other colors.

Baby wipe containers, the ones that are made like a tub rather than a cannister, are perfect for the purse project. The tub containers have a top that opens all the way up, along with a second, smaller lid, which allows you to dispense just one or two of the wipes. Its important that the baby wipes container you choose has a lid that will open all the way up. The secondary lid is unimportant.

Your local fabric store should have a selection of fake fur fabric from which to choose. The fabric is often available in white, black, brown and even zebra stripes. The fur is perfect for covering the baby wipes container. Fur goes on easily and is very forgiving. Mistakes dont stand out like sore thumbs when you work with fur. The first order of business is to cut a piece of fur equal to the size of the bottom of the baby wipes container. Spray adhesive allows you to attach the fur quickly and with ease. It dries fast and will let you move on to the next stage quickly. After the bottom fur piece is set youll then measure and cut the piece that will cover all four sides of the container. Baby wipe tub-type containers are generally larger around the top than they are around the bottom. This could mean youll have a little difficulty in gluing on the side piece. Youll have to create small puckers around the bottom of the container to make the top fit well. The puckers are virtually unnoticeable because of the fur. When adding the fur to the sides of the container have the lid open. That way youll be able to see how far up you can take the fur. After the bottom and sides are finished you can then cover the top of the container. A piece of fur is cut and will cover the entire top. If you want you can glue on a piece of roping, around the perimeter of the lid, to help conceal the raw edges of the fur. Make sure the lid can still close once you apply the roping. Although the purse can be used without a lining inside its nice if you do add a lining. The lining will not only make the inside look nicer but it will also reduce the sound of things rolling around inside. The lining can be created out of satin, linen or other thin fabrics. Create the lining by cutting a rectangular piece the size of the bottom of the container. Also cut a long piece of fabric which is sufficient enough to wrap all the way around the container. The piece should also be wide enough to cover from the bottom side of the container to the top side. Stitch the long piece around the rectangular piece and sew together the seam when youre finished. Position the lining inside the purse before adding the fur to the outside of the baby wipes containers. Trim the lining, if needed, after gluing it to the inside of the container. Poke a hole on each short side of the container pushing through the fur as well as the plastic container. Cut a length of roping or cord to make a purse strap. Push each rope end through one of the holes then tie the end in a knot. The rope can be colorful or can be ordinary rope from a hardware store. You can also use ribbon or braided yarn as the purse strap. Your little girl will love her new, unique purse and will likely want you to make more purses in different colors. When she carries the purse to school and church dont be surprised when her friends mothers start asking you to teach them how to make them. You - and your girl - will absolutely love this project!

How to Make a Vertical Clothesline

For most people, the preferred way to dry garments is a clothes dryer in ones own home. However, many people, whether they own a dryer or not, prefer to hang things on a clothesline to dry. That wont work, though, for people who have no yards. Of course, there are drying racks, sold in department stores, that allow you to hang garments inside your home to dry. But, those racks can take up lots of room when you have little room to spare. Instead, make a vertical clothesline and, no matter how little room you can spare, youll have a handy place to dry a few items.

There are a couple of different ways you can make the vertical clothesline. Youll first need a ceiling hook to hold it. An eye hook works well if youll be making a wire clothesline. For twine and braided lines you can use the eye hook, an "s" hook or even a "c" hook. Screw it into the ceiling, in a corner if possible, and prepare the rest of the clothesline.

Decide on the type of clothesline you want and how long you want it to be. If youre making a wire line simply thread one end of it through the eye hook and bring the two ends together. Hang it a foot or so from the floor or make it a little shorter. If youre using braided roping, twine or similar materials simply bend the cord in half and position it on the "c" or "s" hook. Bring the ends together near the floor. You have several options when it comes to the types of clothes pins you use to hold the garments and the way you assemble the clothesline. Use clothes pins that you squeeze to open. They can be miniatures or full-size. You can use lots of them on the clothesline or space them farther apart and use only a few. You can choose colored plastic clothes pins or you can decorate wooden clothes pins in various ways. Choose a different color of plastic pins for each person in the family: mom gets red, dad gets blue, a daughter gets pink, etc. Or, let the kids have some fun coloring and decorating wooden clothes pins. Wooden clothes pins can be spray painted all the same color or different colors to represent the members of the family. Or, kids can just color them with markers and write their names on them. Other ways to decorate the clothes pins include rubber stamping, colored tape or even stickers. After decorating the clothes pins you can then assemble the clothesline. There are a couple of different ways to assemble the various clothes lines. If youre using a wire line thread the end of it through the hole in the metal clothespin hinge. Slide the clothespin up high on the wire then kink the wire just below the clothespin. Another way to hold the clothespin in place is to simply wrap a piece of tape around the wire, just below the clothespin. Using colored tape makes it easy to create a theme and color scheme down the two lengths of wire. Space the clothes pins evenly apart, down both lengths of wire, but stop adding clothes pins about a foot before the end of the wires. You have similar choices when it comes to assembling the braid or cord clothesline. With it, wrap a piece of tape under each clothespin or tie a knot under each one. If you want, you can add a final bead onto the end of the roping or cord to finish. The vertical clothesline isnt really appropriate for large, heavy garments. However, it can hold gloves, mittens, scarves, undies, kids clothes, pantyhose, socks and more. Who wants to run the dryer just to dry a couple of pairs of gloves when you can hang them to dry in a discreet place? You can use the vertical line in other ways, too. Hang one in a childs room and they can display photos and pin up notes. Or, use it in a corner of their room and they can hang small stuffed animals instead. Its a handy project that can help you organize, dry clothes, display photos and so much more.

Abe Lincoln Magnetic Cabin for Kids

Your kids are really going to love this project that uses a penny, and popsicle sticks, to create Abe Lincolns log cabin. You wont have to rush out and purchase craft supplies since you likely have everything you need to make the cabin. You wont even need specific things since each cabin can be created using a number of choices in craft supplies.

Lay eight popsicle sticks on a flat surface. Arrange them so that they are in front of you horizontally, and they are butted together long side-by-long side, one above the next. Dont have any popsicle sticks? Cut out a square out of brown cardboard, or craft foam, and proceed with the project. If youre using popsicle sticks glue them together. If youre using cardboard color it so that it looks like brown logs going horizontally across the front of the house. Or, cut log shapes out of brown paper and glue them onto the cardboard. You have the option of leaving popsicle stick cabins as-is or painting them.

Whether youre using cardboard or popsicle sticks, affix a piece of magnetic sheeting to the backside. The sheeting is sold at any craft store, by the sheet or by the roll. The roll of sheeting is perfect if this is a craft project for several kids. Peel away the adhesive paper and stick the magnetic square to the back. Cut a triangle that will become the roof of the cabin. The triangle can be paper or craft foam. It should be glued to the top popsicle stick - or the top edge of the cardboard - and should extend slightly beyond the edges of the sticks or cardboard. Cut a rectangle to become the door of the cabin. Again, the door can be made of construction paper or foam. Glue it to the front of the cabin, off to one side, to allow room for a window as well. Make a doorknob from a small bead, a tiny pom-pom or a dab of paint. The window you cut should be slightly larger than a penny. Cut the square of construction paper or foam and glue it to the cabin. Now glue a penny on the paper window. It will give the appearance of Abe Lincoln, in the cabin, looking out the window. If you want, you can glue the penny to the window first, then use narrow strips of tape to create window panes. The tape should be placed in a tic-tac-toe pattern across the penny as well as the window. When youve created the panes you can then glue the entire thing to the cabin. You dont necessarily have to use a real penny to create the illusion of Abe in the cabin. Play money, with a Lincoln image, can be used instead. Even play paper money, that has the Abe design, can be cut and placed in the window. A small picture of Abe cut from a magazine works as well. If you dont have any magnetic sheeting just glue a string hanger on the back. Or, glue on a metallic hardware piece made for hanging ordinary pictures. Make something much larger by gluing the cabin onto a large piece of construction paper or foam. Now you can create trees, rocks and other outside embellishments for the cabin. You dont have to cut giant pieces of the magnetic sheeting; just cut three strips and place them on the back of the large construction paper piece. Cut trees and rocks from magazines and glue them around the cabin or just use construction paper to create the nature accents. Kids can use stickers to write "Abe Lincolns Cabin" across the top of the backdrop or can just leave off such additions. The final look of the cabin, with trees, rocks and more, is totally up to the child. Kids can do this project in school or at home. They can display the finished art on the refrigerator or on a wall. No matter where they show it off its a whimsical creation that will keep kids having fun for awhile. Talk to them about the famous Abe Lincoln while theyre making the cabin and theyll learn a little history without ever knowing it!

Easy Play Places You Make for Your Cat

Is your cat bored? Put an end to that by creating easy toys and play stations where your cat can entertain itself. A playful cat is a happy cat, and your cat can be the happiest cat ever, if you make sure he or she has plenty of options for jumping, swatting, rolling or just lying in comfort. Most cat toys and play stations are very simple to make and many of them can be made from things you already own.

Any cat would have a great time with a fun toy you make from a small Styrofoam cone. Wrap the cone completely in yarn or twine. Start from the bottom and wrap the yarn towards the top of the cone. After you get to the top, glue the last wrap around the cone, then leave a length of the roping hanging off the top of the cone. Leave several inches hanging then begin wrapping the twine around a small Styrofoam ball. When the ball is completely covered the toy is finished. Cats will have fun clawing at the twine-covered cone and ball, but they will also sling it, chase it, roll with it and more.

Use any round ring to slide over a doorknob and youll be able to create a fun toy that hangs on the door. Wrap one end of a piece of yarn around the ring, then dangle it halfway to the floor. Attach any stuffed toy, plastic toy, or rubber novelty. Your cat will love to smack and paw at the hanging toy. Make another simple toy by starting with an empty bathroom tissue roll. Cut the roll in half then glue a cardboard disk over one end of the roll. Drop a bell, some dry rice or other noisemakers into the tube. Cover the opposite end of the tube with a second cardboard disk which youve cut. Simply tape the disks into place, and when youre done, cover the tube with yarn, fake fur, twine or even a piece of cloth. Cats love pushing and chasing the ringing tube around the house. Cats love catnip, thats a fact. Cut open a small stuffed animal, remove some or all of the stuffing, then place a measure of catnip inside. Stitch the stuffed animal shut and throw it on the floor for your kitten or cat. Theyll have hours of fun with this easy toy. Any cardboard box can be a play station for a cat. Turn the box on its side, so that the opening is facing outwards, then poke holes in the ceiling of the box. Thread toys on string or elastic pieces through the holes and temporarily tape them in place. Decide how many toys youll use by the size of the box. A toy or two may be appropriate for a small box whereas a large box can accommodate many more dangling toys. Cover the outside of the box with sandpaper, cloth, carpeting or other things that will allow your cat to sharpen its claws. Cats love to scratch at such things. As you cover the box with the chosen material, youll glue the pieces in place, which will also secure the dangling toys. Combine more than one box to make a larger play center for your cat. Turn one box so that the opening is facing outward. Cut a hole from the back or one of the sides of the first box. This will allow the cat an opening to travel into the next box, and the next. Use as many boxes as you want - of various sizes if you will - to make the play center. Each box can be uniquely different than the others. Start with the main box which has dangling toys inside. Enter into the second box, in the back, where there is a loose ball that the cat can smack and toss. A third box can have a special indoor-outdoor carpeting that cats can really dig their claws into. Theres no limit to the various things you can put inside the boxes for the cat. If you want, you can even toss a cushion on top of one of the boxes, so the cat can rest after playing all day. Its easy to make any of these toys and play centers that youll want to make one of each! Youll have fun making them and your cat will truly enjoy the finished project!

Deli Cake Cover Fishing Pond for Kids

Have you ever seen the size of a rectangular birthday cake cover from a deli? Theyre huge! Wouldnt that make the perfect fishing game for your young child? Since you were going to throw it away anyway why not make a game your children will love? It only takes a few minutes, no money, and will keep your kids giggling for hours. Dont have a rectangular lid? Use a round one instead.

Plastic cake covers arent all that sturdy so dont be surprised if you find yourself making a new one every time someone in the family has a birthday. If stepped on or fallen on, its over for the little pond! Thats okay, though. Make one for now, watch the kids have loads of fun, then make a new one when that one gets ruined.

There are many different ways to create the fishing game. Fill the cake lid with water, and let the kids really fish, or leave it empty and let them pretend the "fish" are in the water. If you do fill the lid with water do so as it rests on a flat surface. Do not try to pick the lid up and carry it while it contains water; it will surely crack. A towel under the water-filled lid is a good idea while the kids are playing. Or, just let the kids play outside when theyre in the mood for the fishing game. Create poles for the game by using twigs, craft sticks, dowel rods or similar items. Tie a string to one end and glue a magnet to the opposite end of the string. When making the magnetic fish for underwater be sure to purchase an adhesive that will not dissolve in water. Youll find just the right glue at a home improvement store. If youre not using water any glue will work including hot glue or spray adhesive. Although you can purchase small plastic fish at a craft store or department store you can also make them yourself. Purchased fish will work better for the underwater version of the game. Even though homemade fish might not be quite as realistic as the plastic fish they will still serve the purpose. If youre using a round cake lid the fish will likely need to be much smaller than the fish in a large, rectangular cake lid. Twist pipe cleaners into fish shapes that you can use for the game. Bring the ends of a pipe cleaner together but dont fold in half. A few inches up from the ends, twist once, to form the body of the fish. Bring the ends together by bending them sharply to create the tail of the fish. Use smaller pipe cleaner pieces to make smaller fish. Glue a paper clip to the pipe cleaner fish so the magnet can grab it. The paper clip can be placed on the back or can actually be part of the fishs face. Button magnets work great for purchased fish. The magnets help the fish sink to the bottom and make the game more challenging. Be sure to use the waterproof glue to attach the magnets. Create other fish by cutting their images from magazines and gluing them to cardboard fish shapes. Although this method doesnt work for the underwater fishing game its perfect for the no-water game. Glue on the paper clips or even small pieces of magnetic sheeting. Youll find the sheeting at any craft store. If you want you can create a scoring system with the fish. Use stickers or markers to draw numbers on the non-water game pieces. Waterproof paint works great for making numbers on underwater fish. Kids can tally up the numbers when all the fish are caught to see who won. Theyll have hours of fun playing either version of the game. You can spend time and money to make the game really fabulous or you can just use things you have around the house to make a much simpler and cheaper version. Spend lots of time making it just perfect or throw it together in a hurry and let the kids have their fun. If the cake lid breaks save the pieces for the next pond you create. After all, another birthday is just around the corner!

Folded Fan Circle Accents for Your Home

Weve all done it: folded paper, back and forth accordion style, to create paper fans. Most of us loved fan folding as children but as adults? Sure! The fans were cute then and still are! But, this time well put a new spin on the paper-folding project and turn the fans into circles. When you do youll then have all sorts of decor items for your home. You wont believe how many unique and beautiful accents you can make for plants, walls and more.

So, you know the technique. Youll choose the decorative paper you want to use and begin folding it into a fan. Half-inch folds will create one look; inch-wide folds will create a completely different appearance. The difference will be in how thick the finished circle will be. Since its paper - very inexpensive - create many different sizes to see which ones you like best.

Papers that are printed on one side, like scrapbook paper, will give you a different outcome than papers printed on both sides, like newspaper. Of course, scrapbook paper is much thicker, so youll need layers of newspaper to create the fans. With scrapbook paper, youll just need one thickness. The stiffer the paper you use, the better the finished circles will be. One piece of paper is usually not enough to create the circles unless it happens to be an unusually long piece of paper. Fold a fan out of one piece of paper, then tape or glue the next piece on and continue folding. Or, fold several fans, then tape or glue them together. When the accordion is finally long enough youll be able to arrange the decorative paper circles. Lay the accordion of paper onto a flat surface. Take one end of the fan in one hand and the opposite end in the other hand. Bring the ends together, causing the accordion to spread out, and form a complete, flat circle. Tape or glue the ends together. These circles are colorful, easy to make and can be used in many different ways to decorate around the house. Make a large circle from thick paper and you can set a lightweight plant pot on it. The plant should be plastic or silk, as real ones weigh too much for the paper circles. Use scrapbook paper that has realistic rock or marble looks and youll create unique accents that make people do a double-take. The circles dont necessarily have to hold plants. Lay two or three fake or real roses on one for a special dinner occasion. Or, make one for the dining room table and place fake fruits on the circle. When you turn the accordion paper into a circle there will be an opening in the center. You can glue or tape a circle on the backside to close this hole. Glue a circle on the front and back, or just on the back. Attach a tassel in the center of the circles and hang them on closet doors or walls. The medallion-type accents are unusual and eye-catching. Make tiny ones to go around drawer pulls then simply remove them and throw them away when youre ready for a new look. Make really narrow pleats while youre folding the fans and create unique accents for a lampshade. Glue one or several circles to the shade. Make one large or several small circles. The final look is completely up to you. A painted wooden shape can be used to cover the hole in the center of the circle for a totally different design. Attach the circles to cornices, mirror corners, wicker baskets, and more. Make ones to go around the bottom of decorative candles (remove before burning), or just make one from foil and hang it from your rearview mirror. There are so many different ways to use the fan circles to add color and interest to your home. This circle craft is great for kids or adults. It costs little money and requires little time to decorate with fan circles. Make some today, change the look of any room with them, then stand back and be impressed with yourself!

Salt Canister Easter Bunny for Kids

Kids love making crafts no matter what holiday it is. Easter is no exception. There are many fun projects kids can do for Easter and many of them are inexpensive and low-cost. One such craft is made from an empty salt canister. The canisters are used to refill salt shakers, but when theyre empty, they make fabulous Easter bunnies. It costs only pennies to create a bunny and its the perfect craft for really young kids.

To start the craft youll need to decide what you will use to cover the salt canister. White paper works great, and when kids use a glue stick to attach it, its easy for them to accomplish. Instead of white paper, though, you can use white fabric or even faux fur. The fur looks fabulous but parents will need to help with the adhesive. Spray adhesives grab the fur and dry quickly. Hot glue is another option if adults are doing the gluing.

After youve covered the canister in the fabric or paper youll then create the face. If you used paper or ordinary cloth to cover the canister you can simply use a marker to create the eyes. Or, purchase wiggly eyes from a craft store and glue them on instead. Some wiggly eyes have peel-away adhesive paper and you can simply stick them on. Other craft eyes have to be glued on. If youll be gluing wiggly eyes onto fur it will help to trim the fur away from the areas where the eyes will go. Even though the eyes will easily stick to the fur theyll hang away from the face if the fur is long. Trim the fur close to the canister then use hot glue to affix them. Another option is to use small, black pom-poms as the eyes. Make the bunny look more manly by cutting pieces of black felt and gluing them over the pom-pom eyes. You have several options for creating the nose for the bunny. If youve covered the canister in paper or white cloth you can draw on a pink nose or use a triangle of felt. No matter what youve covered the canister in you can always use a pom-pom for the nose. Again, trim the fur from the nose area so the pom-pom will hold better. Use two large, white pom-poms to make a muzzle for the rabbit. Glue them beside the pom-pom nose. Another choice is to forget the muzzle and make whiskers. Cut lengths of stiff black twine and glue them next to the felt or pom-pom nose. Theres no need to make a mouth for the Easter bunny. When the face is completed youll make a hat for the bunny. A hat is necessary to cover the top of the salt canister. Cut a circle of felt and place a lid underneath it. The lid can be from a spice jar or something similar. Wrap a narrow rubber band around the lid to form the hat and brim. Tie a ribbon around the rubber band to conceal it. Make it a colorful ribbon for a female bunny and a more manly color if the bunny is male. Cut an oval of white felt, but make the ends pointed, to create the outside of the ears. Cut a second set of pointed ovals, slightly smaller than the first set, to make the inside of the ears. Cut two slits in the hat and push the ears through them. Glue the bottoms of the ears to the top of the canister while you position the hat. Glue the hat onto the top of the canister with the bottoms of the ears concealed. Decorate the hat by adding flowers, strands of beads or other embellishments. Tie a ribbon and bow around the "neck" area to make a female bunny or create a bow tie for a male rabbit. Make smaller rabbits to accompany the larger ones by cutting the salt canister in half before creating the bunnies. Set the finished bunny - or bunny family - on a mantle, a table or another area of the home. Kids will have lots of fun making them and youll enjoy the fact that this low-cost craft gives your kids so much pleasure. Theyll giggle all the way through the project and youll be happy to display the finished project.
